W'Sens

Twin brothers Jacques and Laurent Pourcel, chefs patron of the 3 Michelin starred hotel and restaurant Les Jardin Des Sens in Montpellier and their partner Olivier Chateau opened "W'Sens by La Compagnie des Comptoirs" in London in December 2004.

This 120 cover restaurant, set over two floors, is housed in a grand, Grade II listed building on Waterloo Place, situated between Pall Mall and Piccadilly.  The entire site is designed by Imaad Rahmouni and includes a lounge bar on the ground floor.

The Compagnie des Comptiors restaurants are inspired by the history and imagery of the French colonial past and the trading posts that maintained the spice trade between the West, Far East and Indian Ocean.  The cooking at the restaurants reflects this inspiration with an emphasis on light and colourful dishes.  The menu combines Southern Mediterranean cooking with the evocative flavours of the Indies, fragrances like mandarin, saffron, vanilla and star anise.

To the partners, London was a gradual discovery, as Olivier Chateau has said "we enjoy the youthfulness, openness and diversity of London greatly, particularly in the culinary field."  They have said of their launch in the capital; "the cosmopolitan, pleasure-loving and lively atmosphere of London".

The Bar and Restaurant are situated on the Ground floor and have a capacity of 175 (50 seated).  The Mezzanine holds up to 100 standing or 60 seated.  There is also a Private Room which has capacity for 2 seated.
